EKF KENDO SEMINAR 18-20 March 2008

A two-and-half day kendo seminar will be organised prior to the EKC on 18 – 20 March 2008. The seminar will be led by the ZNKR delegation.

Arrival on Monday 17 March is recommended.

On the evening of arrival, there will be a possibility for keiko at the Ki-Ken-Tai-Icchi Kendo Club Dojo at the Olympic Stadium. There will be possibility for keiko on the other evenings as well, see schedule below.

Seminar schedule

Monday 17/3/2008:

- 15.00 – 21.00: Reception Desk for Seminar Participants (hotel and hostel) – 18.00 – 20.00: Keiko (KKTI dojo, Olympic Stadium)

Tuesday 18/3/2008: – 10.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 16.00 Kendo Seminar (Töölö Sports Hall “B”) – Afternoon / Evening (times tbc): Time for free practice / Ji-geiko (KKTI dojo)

Wednesday 19/3/2008: – 10.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 16.00: Kendo Seminar (Töölö Sports Hall “B”): – Afternoon and evening: Time for free practice (KKTI dojo)

Thursday 20/3/2008: – 9.00 – 10.00/10.30: Kendo Seminar, (Töölö Sports Hall “B”) – 10.30/11.00 – 12.30: Dan-examinations for non-competitors (1st – 5th dan) (Töölö Sports Hall “B”) – 16.00 – 19.00 Free Practice (Töölö Sports Hall “B”): – 19.00 – 22.00 Free Practice / Ji-geiko (KKTI dojo):

Grading

There will be two possibilities for grading (dan-examination):

First one will be organised at the end of the seminar, on Thursday 20 March
2008. This grading is for non-competitors (only possibility) and for
competitors. The grading on 20 March is from 1st dan to 5th dan only.
Grading for 6th and 7th dan is only on Sunday 23 March.

Second possibility is on Sunday 23 March after the EKC. This grading is from
1st dan to 7th dan. It reserved for competitors from 1st to 5th dan.
Examination from 6th and 7th dan is naturally available for everybody.
Examinations are organised by the EKF. Inscriptions for grading will be done
directly at the EKF Secretary General Raf Bernaers by e-mail to
ekf@skynet.be or on location in Helsinki.

Price

Seminar fee is 80 euros per person.

Accommodation and meals

Two possibilities for accommodation:

- Official EKC Hotel Presidentti: 100 euros per room per night (for one or two persons), breakfast included

- Youth Hostel at the Olympic Stadium: from 19 to 23,50 euros per person per night depending on the size of dormitory. Sheets included. Breakfast will cost about 6 euros extra.

Lunch and dinner will be organised individually in nearby restaurants. We will recommend you some with negotiated prices (lunch from 6 to 9 euros, dinner around 10 euros).

Transport

For arrivals info, please refer to practical info for competition.

There will be a bus service from the Hotel to the Dojo and back in the morning and in the afternoon after the seminar.

Youth hostel is located in walking distance from the dojo.

Inscription for the seminar will de done separately form the official EKC registration.
